You may have heard the term “essential fatty acids” before. Well, they’re essential for a reason – our body needs them!
The human body can make most of the types of fat it needs from raw materials or other fats, but not omega 3. While it is critical for the proper functioning of your body, the body cannot make omega 3, so it must be consumed through food or supplements.
Omega 3s are nutrients you get from food or dietary supplements that help build and maintain a healthy body. They’re also an energy source and help keep your heart, lungs, blood vessels, and immune system working properly. The three most common omega 3 fatty acids are alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). ALA is found mainly in plant-based oils. DHA and EPA are found in fish and other seafood.
Seal Oil contains the link in the Omega 3 chain many other Omega 3 supplements are missing: DPA (docosapentaenoic acid).
Seal oil versus fish and plant-based oils
Fish oil omega 3 supplements contain only DHA and EPA. Plant based omega 3 supplements contain ALA, which the body converts into DHA and EPA. Seal oil contains a unique, third omega called DPA. DPA is naturally found all throughout the human body.
DPA is similar to EPA, except our bodies can store twice as much in our blood. It works as both a stand-alone fatty acid and an intermediate essential fatty acid between EPA and DHA. DPA boosts all omega 3 levels and can be converted in the body to both EPA and DHA, allowing the body to use different fatty acids as needed.
It’s worth noting that breast milk has high levels of DPA, suggesting a critical role in human development.
Perfect for people
Seal oil is an amazing choice for your Omega 3 because it’s designed for digestion. Our bodies are able to absorb it more efficiently because the mammalian cell structure is something our bodies recognize immediately! Mammal to mammal, seal oil is more readily and effectively absorbed and utilized by our bodies than other non-mammalian sources of Omega 3. In fact, a smaller amount of seal oil is equally or more effective than a larger dose of fish oil or plant-based omega 3 supplements!
